Hello everybody!

Good evening,

At the Finder app, the sidebar icons are always colourful, but in other apps, as MacCleanse, when you use the apps and add the items or open the folders and the files, the opening window shows only the grey icons. I used iCondubber and I found the grey icons, and I replaced the grey icons for the colourful. But the same opening windows kept the new colourful icons greyed or the same colour of grey.

See the example:

How to hack and enable the grey and greyed colourful icons of opening window to the colourful?

I use Side Effects to accomplish the same as you, however it and nothing else that I can find will change the color of an app's dialog box.

But I do have an app that it does show colors on..... but I can't remember which one it is.

I use it too. Must I report it to SideEffects developer that he'll try to enable the colourful icons of app's dialog box?

There's no harm in that. Though I am betting they would have done that if they could. I think it's an OS X thing that prevents it.

Powerbox Injector

Hi Gustavo,

I received your email. Sideeffects 1.8.6 installs ColorfulSidebar and PowerboxInjector.app by cooViewerZoom.

As of Mountain Lion versions, ColorfulSidebar puts color into open / save dialog boxes of some apps, but it is a bit intermittent - sometimes it works, sometimes not - and I've noticed it often works in Adobe apps.

PowerboxInjector extends this functionality to sandboxed apps, though you'll still see grey a lot of the time. Installing SideEffects 1.8.6 should put PowerboxInjector in Login Items so it runs in the background when you login or restart.

The color icons seem to work in the Save As: dialog box of Handbrake 0.9.8.

As well as iTunes Add to Library and Open dialogs.
