Hello, i have an iphone 4 GSM running on ios 7.1.2 and i have an icloud account in it....problem is Find My iPhone app runs only on iOS 8.0 or later. I want to Send a Message to it from iCloud then erase/wipe device REMOTELY and then remove device from iCloud. Can someone instruct me how to do it?
I went to icloud.com and then find iPhone but it says "No Devices". Help

You don’t need to have the app on your iPhone. All you need to do is sign into iCloud and enable Find My iPhone in the settings.

If you cannot see the device on icloud.com, then you are likely out of luck.

You should encrypt the device, enable automatic wiping after 10 attempts, use a strong password and restrict access on the lock screen as much as possible. It goes without saying that using an older device and an version of iOS carries risks with it.

My wifi signal is very weak or sometimes disconnects, could that be the problem?

No, it should still show up on icloud.com, because you can send a wipe request even when it is not connected to the network at the time.

Ok thanks working now, just need to know how long it takes to remotely erase the iPhone 4 16GB device?
[doublepost=1494083516][/doublepost]Also, need to know, should i Un-link the device first or erase it first. I know first i need to turn on lost mode.

It should only take a couple of seconds, assuming the phone is connected to the network. The phone will lock itself as soon as it receives the request and will start erasing the encryption keys.

I am not sure, but I think I have read that you will receive a confirmation email when the wipe was initiated/completed. You can unlink the phone thereafter, but keeping it linked will assure that the device cannot be used by anyone else.

Will it

work
[doublepost=1494086157][/doublepost]Will it work if I have no service on my phone, my network not working

No, it obviously needs an Internet connection to receive the wipe request. The activation lock (that prevents someone from setting up the device as new) will work regardless. That’s why it is also recommended to turn off the Control Center on the lock screen, to prevent people from turning off network access.

I have no service but I have a wifi signal on my phone, will it work?
