hi,

I have a lot of emails sitting in my yahoo account and want to export them after deleting them. I looked on the web but can't seem to find a specific method to export make a couple of large .mbox files similar to what gmail allows you to do.

I don't want to sync it to my mac mail program.

also heard if you want to delete your yahoo emails it is best not to deactivate the account as yahoo recycles email names and that is bad if you used yahoo mail for password verification or password retrieval.

I am not sure if this is what you want, but if you have the Yahoo account setup in macOS Mail, you can just drag all the mails from the inbox (or any other mailbox folder) to a folder on your desktop or a an open Finder window.

All your mails will copy to the destination.

Thanks for the help. Yahoo is such a dirtbag corporation. The fact they don't allow you to easily migrate your data out of their compromised system is ridiculous.

Just a thought, may not accomplish what you need, but...

Have you thought of using a mail application -other than- Mail.app to log into your Yahoo account?

I'm thinking of something like Thunderbird.

You could:
1. create the account
2. Thunderbird would then download all the emails from yahoo to your Mac.
3. You could then "sort out" the emails in T-bird, deleting what you don't wish to keep.

At this point, you could either use T-bird to handle the emails, or, you could import them into Mail.app without having to actually log into the yahoo account -using- Mail.app.

Thanks. I will try this. I use Airmail 3 and want to have one file I can put everything in.
