As the title how do I extend a partition once I have cloned to a larger disk...

Using ddrescue have cloned a failing external 1Tb WD Green which is causing Kernel Panics and constantly unmounting to a 2Tb WD Black now the 2Tb WD Black shows in Disk Utility as 1Tb and won't let me resize it into the rest of the free space. Any suggestions? I don't have enough free space on other drives to move the data to and reformat and start again.

Not familiar with "ddrescue", but will Disk Utility allow you to create a new partition using the free space?
If so then maybe you can juggle the sizes or even erase and remove the newly created partition and then adjust the size of what's left.
Might be a good time to mention, you really should have a good working backup of your system before you start trying any of this Disk Utility stuff...

No Disk Utility does not allow you to make a partition in the remaining space because it has the GUID partition table from the 1Tb drive as far as Disk Utility is concerned the drive is as it should be but does show it as a larger capacity just no way of obtaining use of it.
