Hi;

Bit of an odd problem. I am trying to recover data from a friends Macbook. The hard drive has failed and I am using Easeus Data Recovery Software to recover data from it.
The Macbook is fine as I have tested it using another Hard Drive.

Like I said I am trying to recover data from the Hard Drive using EaseUS data recovery software. It has been running for a day or so and it has found hundreds of thousands of files.

My friend would really love to recover the photos from the Hard Drive but therein lies my challenge. Because it is an Apple Device they saved thier photos in iPhoto and also looks like the newer app Photo. In the recovery console it seems to have found the iPhoto and Photo databases but how can I extract the photos from these apps to put onto a storage device to pass onto my friend?

Any help would be great

This should be straightforward because the the library databases are "packages" that are really just directories (folders) that contain sub-directories and image files. For example, my "Photos Library.photoslibrary" contains "Masters" which contains year, month, day, and time-range folders which contain the image files. IIRC, the same is true of the old iPhoto library.

If you are browsing the ".photoslibrary" file with Finder, you need to right-click it and choose "Show Package Contents". I believe this "package" concept is part of Finder. That is, if you are using Terminal and commands, it will look just like nested directories, and I'd assume the data recovery tool would be the same as Terminal.
