Srry - have searched through the forums and cannot find info on how ot find out model and speed information on the macbook pro? can someone point me in the right direction? thanks

Click the Apple in the upper left corner of your screen. Click "About this Mac" And then click "More Info..." to open up System Profiler.

I assume you're talking about finding out this info for a machine your own, correct?

Select "About This Mac" from the Apple menu, then click the "More Info" button. There should be a listing under the "Hardware" section (probably called "SATA"...it's called "ATA" on my PowerBook). Clicking that should give you a model number for a hard drive on the SATA bus. Google the model number and that'll tell you the model.

Thanks Guys, I was in the right place was just looking for 7200 instead of a model number - ST9160823AS - cheers!
