Hello, I was at an Apple Store. I tried to find out the brand and model of the Wifi chip used in 13" and 15" MBP 2018. Such information are not listed in system preference. Know any way to find such information?

According to the iFixit teardown of the 2018 13-inch MBPro, the wifi chip is an Apple/Universal Scientific Industrial (USI) 339S00428 Wi-Fi/Bluetooth module.
iFixit does not list the wifi chip in the 15-inch. Might be the same in both units.

So it is different from the ones used in 2017 models. In this case, is the only way to test Linux compatibility is to buy one and test it?

The model number for the wifi chip is similar in the 2017 (Murata/Apple 339S00056), so I would expect that you would have at least generic wifi support in Linux, assuming the 2017 is already supported in some flavor of Linux. (Bluetooth v5 may be more involved)
