Hi,
How to format and reset a mac M1 under an MDM program without blocking it?
I want to reset it because I have stability issues after the ventura update, currently I have no MDM profile installed I only get notifications (DEP)

Note: I got scammed when I bought a Mac on facebook marketplace, I contacted the company that owned the Mac, I'm waiting for their response but I doubt they will remove it from their MDM program as 90% of it's a stolen device.

with macOS Ventura there's now definitely no way around this as the computer will require an internet connection to activate, so you will always be prompted for this. Unless the computer gets removed by the owner, you run the risk of the computer getting locked or wiped by the owner.

Hi, I tried the technique of blocking the MDM program links in the wifi settings
I blocked all these links in my wifi settings

after I didn't receive any notification from DEP/MDM program, when I run this command :
sudo profiles show -type enrollment
I get this error message:
Error fetching Device Enrollment configuration: (34000) Error Domain=MCCloudConfigurationErrorDomain Code=34000 "The device failed to request configuration from the cloud." UserInfo={NSLocalizedDescription=The device failed to request configuration from the cloud, CloudConfigurationErrorType=CloudConfigurationFatalError}

Would it work if I format the Mac ?

Your suspicions are correct I believe. If I was the owner of a company and someone had one of my laptops that was stolen, it would never be removed from MDM and would be set in such a way as to permanently disable the device until the device was recovered.

Lesson learned unfortunately. Something that is too good to be true, is probably fake. Facebook is not known as a bastion of truth.

One of our company iPads was stolen. I created a separate JAMF profile for it with every app removed, every setting disabled and a giant eye burning red and yellow background image that says “STOLEN IPAD” in big friendly letters.

Hey, gotta have some fun with this if it’s never coming back.
