before i go and buy a subscription for mobile me i wanted to create a trial account especially after all the bad things that have happened already to see if it's worth it. much to my dismay though i found that you need a credit card number to get one. as i am a college student i don't have a credit card yet, nor do i want to apply for one yet. is there anyway to get a trial account without a credit card number?

You can't get a trial account without giving them your cc info, unfortunately.
However... I can attest that if you cancel before the 60 days, they really WON'T charge your card. When I first got my mac last winter, I signed up for the trial .mac account. I didn't think it was worth it, so I canceled.
They sent me an email a few days prior reminding me that I'd be charged if I didn't cancel... but that if I was interested, I didn't have to do anything and they would charge me.
I logged in, canceled right away, got a confirmation email that I canceled and I was never charged anything at all.
Mobile Me appears to be working the same way.

Have a Visa/MC Bank ATM Card? That will work... they just verify your account by holding $1 and then releasing it.
Can you get a pre-paid Visa (gift card) were you live? ie get a $30.00 card or what ever. The3 subscription robot doesn't know the difference. These cards a great for internet use when you don't want to give out you credit card number.
