How to get Apple TV synching to play nice with my ipod...

I have a nano so space is important.
I have some christmas music, and some other music that I want to sync to my apple tv, but I don't want to "check" it in iTunes because I don't want it to sync to my nano. Is there an easy way to do this that I'm overlooking?

What you can sync on your ipod and ATV are totally different. You can sync things to your ATV without it going on your ipod.
