how to get application data to icloud?

i want to restore my phone and set up as new in attempt to determine if i have a bad battery or not. is there any way to push my current app data to icloud, like my pandora stations or Pulse news reader feeds, for example. i want set up as new and download the apps again from scratch but hate to lose all the data...any ideas? thank you

Pandora pulls your stations from your login, not the app itself. As for others, they'll be empty. That's just how a restore as new goes. If it makes you feel any better, I restored as new recently on my 4s and it seemed to help. What's been the biggest help, I think, was using the battery until my phone died and fully recharging it to 100%.

AS far as I understand: iOS 5 has new iCloud APIs for storage of app-specific data - so it is up to each app to be updated to take advantage of it.

Many apps already have their own 'cloud' servers with their data (like Pandora and Netlix, when signed into an account).

Doesn't the wireless back up to iCloud store your app data and let you restore it after a new install or new iPhone purchase?

i see that icloud can back up the app data on an individual basis, app by app. but if i restore and set up as new, and as i re-download each of my apps, will the corresponding data be restored? I guess i don't quite get how icloud works, just yet.

Unfortunately not. The only way to get the backed up app data back, is to restore from iCloud. Not very elegant if you ask me.

if i restore from icloud, it will re-download the apps from apple right? i think that would eliminate any corrupt, battery-draining app...

Yep (the ones still available in the app store, that is). Even organized to your preference.

As long as you don't turn off the backup it will sync the app data and redownload when you restore.
