I had my iPhone 3GS replaced due to poor battery yesterday and I'm curious if there's a way to get back an app I bought from the Cydia store without having to pay for it again (3G Unrestrictor). I remember making a Cydia account and paying with PayPal but I don't see a place to log in with my Cydia account.

Are cydia downloads tied to a specific phone via IMEI/Serial number?

When you go to install 3G Unrestrictor, it will automatically know that you paid and it will install.

Some apps that use a code such as iBlacklist will need the code that they emailed you when you purchased it.

I should have stated -- the reason I started the thread is because it isn't showing up as paid. It looks like I never bought it (button says Purchase).

Do you mean if I hit Purchase it'll do it for free, like on the App Store?

I haven't bought anything in Cydia yet (most of the stuff I use from Cydia is free), but I know that in the official Apple App Store if it's a paid app it still says "purchase" when you click, even asks you to confirm the purchase, but once it goes to DL it realizes your account already bought it and asks if you Want to re-install it (for free), so maybe Cydia's paid store works the same, I'm not positive though.

Contact the developer. The purchase is linked to your UDID, so whomever has your old iPhone can now use whatever you purchased for free. You need to get the licenses transfered to your new UDID.

I wouldn't be surprised if there were no way to do that. You might end up having to pay for it again.

This is why you shouldn't buy anything in Cydia.

Ah I see. I don't mind that much, it was only two bucks. Good to know though.

Anyone know how to get a Cydia app's developer's contact info? I can't seem to find anything about the developer.

Whoops nevermind guys! I signed in with the gmail account that I used on the other phone and now it recognizes my purchase.

Sorry. :)

Oh, cool! Disregard everything I said about the UDID.

i have several paid cydia apps (mcleaner, ismart dialer..etc), they generated a code base upon your IMEI or email. so when i got my replacement, they had to re-generate the code with my new IMEI or update my email.

so it ties to your IMEI or serial number or email depends on the app you purchased
