how to get CS on a mac

i downloaded Steam, but i cant figure out how to get CS on it. i have HL2 with the serial, which is what i used to play CS on my PC before i got the macbook. i cant install it to OSX from the HL2 discs, and i cant download CS without having to pay for it. what am i missing?

doesnt it run natively under osx? whats the point of having steam of mac then

They never ported CS 1.6 to Mac OSX -- only CS: Source.

So it sounds like you don't have a steam license of the game? Just the PC discs? That's probably your problem (unless I'm missing something).

Any games that you've downloaded from Steam on Windows should be present on the mac version as well.

If in steam your game list has grey items then it means that there is no Mac port for them. Which means you can't play them on mac because there is no mac version.

As a member stated above CS was not ported but CS:Source was.
