Hello all,

I make the stupid choice of updating my iPhone 3GS to the newest version thru iTunes, and I lost all my jailbreak apps and settings, etc. I tried to go back to blackra1n.com and download it onto my iPhone again but when I do it says in iTunes its gone into recovery mode and will need to be factory rested. But then I take it off my dock and it works fine.

The problem is Cydia is gone, my custom sounds are gone, SMS background - gone, etc. I kinda forget the logistics of how some of the things work but I am sure I can figure it out again.

My question is how can I get Cydia on my iPhone now? It's gone... I remember the first time I downloaded Blackra1n the app appeared and inside I could download Cydia, but there's no Blackra1n app to use.

Please help? I'm really in a bind here...

I may be totally wrong but if you have updated to 3.1.3 then you will have to wait for Cydia to release an update saying that it works.

Oh fantastic... I should've went with my gut and didn't download the new update. :(

You will be un-jailbroken

There is no jailbreak tool for 3GS for 3.1.3.

You should NEVER update without reading if you want/need to stay jailbroken

I have turned update notifications right off. I will always find out if there's any important release through other channels, and it prevents any 'accidents.'

OP: there is one possibility. If you have your ECID SHSH on file in Cydia, you will be able to restore to 3.1.2 and use redsn0w or blackra1n to jailbreak your phone. The procedure is detailed at http://www.saurik.com/id/12#howto.

Why is everyone telling the OP he can't have a jailbreak? Since he was previously jailbroken, there is a good chance he could have his ECID SHSH cached on Saurik's server and could downgrade to 3.1.2...

By the way, iClarified has a tutorial for those in need: Downgrade iPhone 3GS OS 3.1.3 to 3.1.3 with Cydia SHSH

That's a possibility, but not everyone has their shsh saved with Saurik.
Hope he does though.

Right, so is there a tutorial on how to re-jailbreak my iPhone 3GS on 3.1.3 yet? If so... could someone post it? I need cydia and stuff back on my iphone... I also had rock and other things... :S

if it has the old bootrom, sn0wbreeze might work. but its copied and modified code of pwnage tool, and can get you in legal trouble with apple if you use this method...thelatinist knows all about sn0wbreeze, you can ask him.

There is still no way to jailbreak a 3GS on 3.1.3 without first downgrading. Sorry.

Snowbreeze doesn't do anything PwnageTool doesn't. It will allow you to upgrade a phone to 3.1.3 while preserving the jailbreak, but it will not jailbreak a 3GS on 3.1.3 already.

Also? Please don't associate me with that jibberish you wrote about Snowbreeze. There are plenty if problems with it, but getting the end user in legal trouble is not one of them.

He might, but since the OP has chosen not to bother to inform us of such, who really knows.

To me, the OP seems clueless, as if he hasn't even read any of the responses.
