Hi,

I just took the plunge and decided to jailbrake my iPhone 3G...can anyone tell me how to get a different wallpaper on my lockscreen than what's on my homescreen/springboard? Is there something available in Cydia that I can download to achieve this? Also, how can I change the wallpaper that is given when you download a theme? (I downloaded I L L U M I N E and although I really like the wallpaper that comes with the theme, I'm thinking about switching it up a bit). Any help with this would be greatly appreciated! :)

To use a different wallpaper with your theme, go into Winterboard and make sure "User Wallpaper" is clicked and on top of your theme name.

I have "User Wallpaper" checked in Winterboard, however I'm not sure what you mean by having it 'on top of my theme'...I tried to restart my phone but still wasn't able to change the theme wallpaper :(

When in the Winterboard look to the extreme right and you'll see those boxes with three slashes or files stacked; press that button and drag the User Wallpaper to the top and release.....

It's the same procedure when you want to move anything around in the Weather App or the Stocks App....

Thanks! I assume that if I want to change back to the theme wallpaper I can do so by unchecking "User Wallpaper" in Winterboard am I correct?

My only other question is: How can I get a different wallpaper for my lockscreen only (the wallpaper that I'd like to use for my lockscreen is too busy to use as my homescreen with all of my apps)...is there an easy way I can achieve this through Cydia/Winterboard or is it something more complex?

i had the same question. look here: https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/748432/

^^^ That's another way to do it, but I'm trying to keep it simple. Just select the wallpaper you want to use and your lockscreen will automatically utilize your selected wallpaper as your lockscreen, until you change it.....:cool::cool:

Yea, but could I then change the wallpaper on my home screen to make it different/separate from my lockscreen (I'm using a jailbroken phone btw)?

generic, I appreciate your thread but I'm new to this as well and unfortunately don't understand the whole 'ssh' process...can you please dumb it down for me lol. I'm using a mac and have a very poor wi-fi connection at my apartment.

Instead of the popular suggested Cyberduck. I prefer Diskaid. Diskaid does not require a wifi connection. It goes through USB...Google it, I'm too lazy to find it. :p

The information you are looking for to change the wallpaper is in the 'theme' folder. You can find the theme folder by first selecting the 'root' folder found in the bottom left corner on diskaid.

Download it. Hook your phone up to your computer like you would if you were going to sync (but don't) and then report back with questions.

It's hard for me to explain.

Heres a pic of what Diskaid looks like when you are hooked up with your iPhone.

Look in the bottom left corner, select 'root folder' then follow the path I have highlighted.
Pick the theme you are currently using. Find the wallpaper.png. Save it to the desktop as a backup. Delete it. Drop and drag new background in the same place, replacing it. THIS IS IMPORTANT> Name it the same exact thing as the one you just deleted.

Respring, and enjoy. ;)

Thank you IBradMac, I'll try downloading Diskaid and see if I can go through the process and make it work! I'll report back here if I have any questions.

Ok, I downloaded Diskaid and selected the 'root folder'. I followed the path that you highlighted. The theme I'm using is called "illumine"...I'm not sure how you got a "Lock Status.theme" or if it matters. I couldn't find that theme on Winterboard, so I selected "Server Lock Example.theme" and got a similar screen displaying "LockBackground.html". I created a folder and named it "imgs" like you had in your example. I then clicked on the arrow and dragged and dropped my desired wallpaper (the wallpaper that I'm trying to put on my lock screen) into that folder. At this point, I'm not sure if I'm doing this right lol. The wallpaper I want as my lockscreen is labeled on my desktop as "42459.png". I'm not sure what you mean by re-naming it...I just created the folder and there are no other images there. Now for the really confusing part: I clicked "Copy to Device" and all that happens is it opens my device library (with my hard drive, time capsule, places, media, etc.)...I'm not sure how to make this work :(

I hope that made sense...

I'm sorry, I know you made these directions about as easy as anyone could- I'm just such a moron when it comes to computers lol. I just switched to mac not too long ago and am still trying to figure out the OS so I apologize for my ignorance in this matter. I really would like to make this work and I feel as if I'm almost there but I know I'm missing something important. Can you tell me what I'm missing/doing improperly? Thank you for your time/patience

It took me ALL week to figure it out. Just be careful you don't delete something important. Like the warning says when you enter the root folder--changing settings could lead to an inoperable device. As long as you stay in the theme part you should be okay.

I'll try to get some better pictures up. :)

Heres a better example ingnore the last post. I re-read and now I'm confused!

Illumine is a theme correct? Find it in the theme folder.

In my example I have 'iglassSol' highlighted. In the next column you will see "wallpaper.jpg".

If I wanted to change that to something different..I would simply choose to save a copy to my Mac. Then delete the file from diskaid.

Then locate the wallpaper that you want and replace Wallpaper.jpg with that file. Rename the file you just replaced "Wallpaper.jpg". (Without the "")

Respring device, all done!

:D

IBradMac, thank you soo much!!! It worked like a charm- almost too easy once it became clearer :D

I'll post pics of my theme/wallpaper in the "Post Spring/Winterboard Screenshots 2.2.1/3.0" thread so that you can check it out. Thanks again!
