Why is there a delay on the native e-mail app but on the Gmail app, the notifications are instant? Is there a fix for this?

Google doesn't provide support for push outside of their own apps or unless you are using a paid (Google Apps) account.
I have a jailbreak tweak that takes a push from the Gmail app and forces a mail check on the Mail app. Unfortunately, I've subsequently lost push on my Office 365 account because I changed it from Exchange to IMAP because you can't move messages back and forth between accounts in Mail if one or both is Exchange.
