Why can't I add my iBooks epubs into my iPhone. I used to add it back when I had a iPhone 5s but now it seems iTunes only recognizes PDFs and the books I purchased through iTunes Store. Is there any way to do this.

I always drop epubs in my dropbox, then on the dropbox ios app, select "open in another app", then select iBooks.

It has worked 100% all the time.

Have you tried that?

Not sure what you are doing, but I can add ePubs to my iTunes library just fine. Perhaps you aren't looking at the right tab in the Books section? There are separate tabs for ePubs and PDFs.

And as already mentioned, if you don't want to use iTunes sync, you can also import them via another app on the phone and "open in" iBooks.
