After downloading emails from GMail, those emails are NOT deleted from GMail.

I want the downloaded GMail emails deleted from the GMail server after Mail has downloaded them.

How to accomplish this?

I am not asking about deleting email from GMail's Trash, Junk etc.

I need the newly download GMail's deleted from GMail after Mail has downloaded them.

Thanks!

Are you downloading with POP? Check your gmail settings to be sure that Emails aren’t archived after downloading.

My understanding is that emails that are 'deleted' remain on Google's servers for a period of time (even though they are no longer accessible by the user)

As glenthompson said, check your settings in Mail first. If you migrated your setup from previous versions of macOS then your Gmail account might be set up as POP.

If that's the case, it's going to take a little effort to get things straightened out…so let us know.

Sounds like you are running POP, as many above said, IMAP is the answer, that way it actually syncs. And also, Mail on Mac or iPad & Gmail kinda hate each other.

IMAP is going to be the correct way but if the OP is using POP on the Gmail account he's got to take care of the emails on his Mac so that they don't disappear when he makes the change.
