How to get my audiobooks collection to 10.5" iPad Pro?

I used to sync with iTunes. Audiobooks and music always synced from my iMac to my 10.5" iPad Pro.
I rent 2TB iCloud storage now. How do I get my music and audiobooks on the 10.5" iPad Pro? Doesn't my 2TB iCloud backups include all my music and audiobooks to view on all devices?

You mean I have to go back to syncing in iTunes even w 2TB storage in iCloud. I cannot drag folders to iCloud. iCloud only accepts individual files, ONE at a TIME. This is the stupidest service in the cloud.

Pictures works great in the cloud. All pictures are on all devices. But what happens to music, audiobooks?

If you want to use your music on the go, while not syncing with iTunes, then yes, you gotta pay for that service.

If you would have read about cloud storage, you would have known.
your only option it to put all the audio files in the cloud, and might be able to listen to them with another app, but you won't be able to use the music player.

If the audiobooks are bought from Apple - they will appear in the books section of the iPad.
If they're got from other sources - options could include uploading them to dropbox and using that, or paying £22/year for iTunes match - which will match all your music/audio or upload it to Apple and then give you access to it on other devices.

iCloud is flawed when it comes to so many things - but as far as Apple are concerned... it works for them :-D

Sounds like you'll have to use iTunes to simply transfer the files from the computer to the iPad.

Is the issue that you want to use iCloud, or that you don't want to use iTunes?

If you don't want to use iTunes, then purchase iMazing .... it's great for syncing stuff and a whole lot more.

I use iCloud Drive and an app called Bound.

If your (un-DRMed) audio files are in iCloud (mine are and I have hundreds of them all in appropriate folders) then you can stream them to the iPad with the Files app. As long as you have a good network connect and enough data of course.

If you wand to download them, then Bound is a good choice as has already been mentioned.

iTunes Match will not work for audiobooks. However, I have read that if the audiobooks are marked as music in iTunes they will upload to iCloud. I have tried this but not had any success. The files upload correctly and can be downloaded to an iOS device. But, in my case, the files play but have no sound. I'm not sure why.

I am told odd things by Apple Support. They keep saying that my music is always available from my 2TB iCloud. I say, no, that isn't correct. Only music I buy from Apple is in the iCloud. 90% of my music and audiobooks are either ripped by me or other vendors. I want to store my music library in the iCloud. Oh, no, only what you buy from Apple. But we will store ALL of your photos. I say yes, but then why would anyone need 2TB of storage from Apple if you will not backup my Hard Drive. Oh, but you have Time Machine for that. Yes, I know, and not in the iCloud. If I could store everything in the cloud I could trash my external backups. Just use Time Machine for temporary restore.

So I have decided to skip the lousy iCloud service as a backup and drop my storage to only 200GB. I do like having photos on all devices. Saving $7.00 a month and wasted space in the cloud. I'm going to try iMazing as well. Relying on Apple's half measures is disappointing.

Sorry to resuscitate an old thread (2 years), but, how do you transfer MP3/MP4 files from your computer to your iPhone or iPad to listen as podcasts/audiobooks?

I have some CPR manuals in audio format that I need to listen/study for recertification, and I don't want to listen to them neither on the photos/videos film roll, nor on iTunes (they are long, really long, and I need to keep bookmarks and last point listened to).

Any ideas?. I'm on Big Sur on the Mac, and iOS14 in my phone

Make sure they are mp3 or m4b files, if so, just drag into opened Apple Books. However, i always import into Music App first. Apply the genre as audiobook. Retitle in Apple+I metadata. Select imported file in Apple books, Apple+I. Then drag the “now” music file into Apple Books.

TRANSFERING: You need a Mac computer, an Apple device (iPad, iPhone) with your device cabled to your Mac, open FINDER. Finder is your desktop. Look on left side for your device. Click it and SYNC with your Mac. There are a few buttons to choose from for future use in syncing. I do not want to sync my entire audiobook library, so I choose to MANUALLY which audiobooks, so Entire Library SYNCING is turned OFF.

Thank you!, now in retrospective it was really stupid of me to expect wireless syncing of things not bought on iTunes Store, but I was so used to everything syncing over the air, I had forgotten the old days when everything was made trough a cable.

I already had the audiobooks in the computer's books app, but it baffled me they did not appear automatically on the phone. (Duhhh!)

EDIT: after the first wired syncing, it seems the phone CAN sync wirelessly.

PS: What's your native language? or if English is, where do you live?. It's been a long time since I saw someone using "cable" like you did.
