What sort of site have you got? I installed a module just last night to show twitter updates on my Joomla site.. if you have Joomla I can PM you the website link to see it..
twitter has a public API.

As long as you are not pulling too much data over the course of the day, you do not need to register.
Also, every twitter feed has an accompanying RSS feed.
