How to get New Line in Messages in Big Sur?

Seems like for years using Ctrl+Return in a Messages when composing would go to a new line. Can't figure out how to get to a new line in Messages, only send the message.

As far as I remember it's been Option+Return. Works here.

Thanks - for some reason Command+Enter has worked for me up to now, but it broke with Big Sur, will have to get used to Option+Return, thanks.

Thanks, Peadogie. I finally upgraded to Big Sur, from Mojave. Everything's different now.

I always realized the minor differences one operation system to the next, but skip one, like I did with Catalina? Huge difference!!

FWIW, shift-return also works.

Shift-return?! That's what I had to UN-learn from before.
Shift-return works in most apps/websites, such as Facebook, Windows, etc.
CTRL-Return took some getting used to. Option-Return is another world.
