How to get off the noize from the iMac?

Hi,

My iMac is the sound when it starts, is on and when to start a program. I left it in for service and they said it would examine it and do a test drive. It found nothing wrong and I can not stay to file it if it does not seem to find anything wrong.

I wonder if there is someone on this board who have the same problem and how you solved it? I suspect that someone screw the hard disk is not completely fixed, or something like that. Or there is something strange on the hard disk that is lost if you reformat it. I know I was installing Windows with bootcamp so maybe it has to do with the eight I'm just thinking. It seems hard right to open the iMac and remove the screen and all that so I had time to avoid.

I think you heare your Hard drive. Search for post HDD noise, HDD sound iMac etc.

Mine is going back because of the noise. It is no hardware issue but annoying. So much that Apple is replacing it.

Make sure your updated to the current software

If all else fails vacuum the dust out of the long vent on the back (while unplugged).

If this is a HD doing grumbling noises, the only sure thing is to replace the HD (or all the computer, if you are within 14 days from the purchase).

I have Apple Care but i I submitted it to the point that, do they support it and said it would check the noise level and then do something with the hard drive test which would check if there was something wrong on the counter, I took it as. According to them they would not find anything wrong.
It feels a bit tedious to have to submit it again.

Today I went to an Apple Store, and described my problem. I had the computer with me so it could start and see if it could hear something. Should I support and he could not hear anything from the sound only a little fan. What should I do? Do you think you may be able to fix it self to reinstall everything? He said I would be home and see if I could record with the iphone or something. I have tried to record but I may not be enough for you to hear the phone.

I don't see how reinstalling your software will make any difference. If the hard drive is making the noise you hear, I doubt there's much you can do to change it. Some hard drives are simply louder than others. Often it depends on the brand. In my experience, Hitachi and Western Digital tend to be quieter than Segate (though I do have three 500GB Segate enterprise-level drives that aren't too noisy).

It is possible your hard drive is failing, though the noise could be completely normal as well. It's going to be almost impossible for anyone not standing directly in front of the computer to tell, even via recording.

How old is your iMac? What size hard drive does it have and who is the manufacturer? You can check this with either the Apple System Profiler or the Apple Disk Utility apps. What does the SMART status say?

I had bootcamp for a while so it might not all disappeared or something.

My iMac is from november 09 I think it sounds strange to be so new.

You have a Seagate drive. They tend to be noisy.
Boot Camp will have nothing to do with the sounds your drive makes.
