I just got an iPhone 2G and I thought I would just unlock it when I get it. I get the message, "No SIM card installed" and it won't let me do anything with the phone. I entered the phone into DFU mode via iTunes and restored it to factory settings and then installed 3.0 firmware. I then used the Pwnage Tool and went through the whole process, got the pineapple on the screen and after it rebooted it gave me the "No SIM card installed" message again. I thought using the Pwnage Tool would unlock the phone so I can use the applications on the phone. Anyone have any advice on how to unlock it?

Can I just install the SIM card from my other iPhone and then just try unlocking the phone again?

go ahead and do a quick search. in a completely non sarcastic tone, there are literally 100's of articles on MR and even more than that on the web about problems with jailbreaking.

the keyword you may be looking for is 'hacktivating'

Just use Redsn0w best jailbreaking/unlocker imo. Search youtube there should be plenty of videos about it.
