The cesspit of civilization
Hi, to make a long story short: I'm a speaker at a workshop on august 14th on the city I live in. I planned to give my presentation (as I always do) on site and with a keynote file projected.

Alas, due to unforeseen circumstances my father is undergoing surgery on another city this friday, and I plan to be there for the surgery and at least a week for the postop care. So I'm now researching ways to present my conference through the internet so I do not have to take a 950 km trip twice on the same day just to give my presentation. The workshop coordinator is a friend of mine and will be on site with an iPad from which she can project to the audience.

Is keynote live my best option?

I solved a similar problem about 14 years ago but it involved a lot of planning and human resources. I was living on BCN and remote presented my first postgraduate thesis in Mty, MX. I did this by recording my presentation with a firewire iSight camera (do you remember these?) and FTP'ing the powerpoint file and the .mpg video to a friend who used 2 macbooks to project both of them at the same time (the timing of starting both files at the same time was tricky at best) using 2 inFocus projectors in an auditorium. I also convinced the IT department at the hospital to open a port in the local network for me to skype to the second macbook and "be there" for the question session after my presentation (and to defend my dissertation).

If anything comes to shove, as a backup plan, I will video record myself giving my lecture and leave this plus the keynote file with my friend, but she would need another equipment to project from (this should not be a problem). Also, I could take a plane to come back for the presentation, but I would like to avoid this.

ADDENDUM: Have you used the app Knovio?
