How to handle not having TRIM support

I would expect you would have more luck with CarbonCopyCloner or similar. It is free and works nicely for drive copying.

As for erasing, you should have a look at your drive's manufacturer site - recommendations vary but they seem to agree on not doing some sorts of secure erases.

However, I would only consider doing this once a year or so or as part of a fresh OS install. Its really not all that necessary (at least not very often) with the garbage collection capabilities of current gen SSDs.
 
Yikes.... that's complicated. All I want to do is play a game that isnt available for OSX, so maybe I'll just use one of my HDDs for boot camp.

For the record, the reason I am looking into this is because I have 23GB of free space on my boot drive and boot camp assistant was unable to create a 15GB partition for XP because certain information could not be moved. Whatever that means.
 
Since it's been suggested to do that every year or so... just don't do anything and wait for OS X Lion ;) Since there's apparently TRIM support in the available Beta
 
From what I have read, TRIM is only for Apple's SSD for now.

Apparently in the beta versions its only working on Apple SSDs.

This is really a non-issue though. Just buy a SSD with proper garbage collection and don't worry about it.
