How to Handle Stuffit???

I am running 10.2.8 on my old Kihei slot loading 350 iMac. Everytime I upgrade Stuffit the older versions stick around. When I just dl'd Stuffit 8 standard......it would only open with the original version...which is classic mac(os9). Am I doing something wrong? I am obviously afraid to get rid of any of the older versions. Anybody have any experience with this?

you can just delete the old version... i've done this many times with no problems.
