How to jailbreak iPhone 3GS with old bootrom?

Hey, I'm sort of a newbie, so bear with me

I've been looking for a way to jailbreak my iPhone 3GS, running iOS 4.0 with the old bootrom.

Is there a way to jailbreak iOS 4.0 on my 3GS without doing a sort of "jailbreak train" from OS 3.1.2?

if not, would any of you help me with a way to jailbreak iOS 4.0?

I'm trying to maximize my selling potential on Ebay to purchase a new iPhone 4

Once on iOS4 you cannot jailbreak a 3GS, you must downgrade to 3.1.2 or 3.1.3 which requires SHSH blobs.

My understanding is that you're probably out of luck right now. I don't think there's a way to jailbreak unless you are currently jail broken on 3.1.3 or lower. And for you, the only way to do that is to downgrade - but to downgrade you have to have been jailbroken before - thus the catch 22.

Sit tight, there may be a way to do it soon, but I think it's impossible now.

I'm holding out for the white iPhone 4, which is supposed to be retailing sometime this month to my understanding.

I just want to be able to sell a "JAILBROKEN UNLOCKED iOS 4.0" 32gb 3GS on Ebay, if you catch my drift

As said, for now you are stuck. You should not have upgraded if you wanted to jailbreak and unlock.

Not once you have already installed it, must be done during the upgrade.

NEVER update the firmware on a phone until the tools are released for JB/UL

I'm on 3GS 3.1.3 Old Bootrom with Spirit JB, is there a guide up yet to help me JB to 4.0 CFW?
