I'm really new at this but I want to know how to JailBreak my iPhone?

I have the iPhone 3G with Baseband 2.30.03 (2.2.1)... Any ideas? or if this is even possible?

Thanking you all in advance

Right now, it's not possible. The dev team (the people that help us unlock the iPhone) has a blog at http://blog.iphone-dev.org Check there for updates. They've announced that 3.0 will be unlockable soon, so that means your phone will be unlockable, just not for a few days. Hope this helps! :)

It's most definitely possible - it just hasn't been released yet.

This is fantastic news for all 3G owners who have stock 2.2.1 firmware
and updated their modem firmware past 02.28.00 - yellowsn0w will work
with stock OS 3.0 software and modem firmware (04.26.08).

Watch for the resale prices for unlocked 3G iPhones to sharply plummet, and soon.

software 2.2.1 and baseband 2.30 is very much unlockable, but depends on what bootloader you have. Basically it depends on when you phone was manufactured. I'm not sure on when the actual cutoff date was, but if you bought your phone closer to the launch of the 3g, you can unlock it. You have to just run quickpwn, then run the fuzzy baseband downgrader to get your baseband to 2.28, then you can run yellowsnOw to unlock it.

That's exactly what I said.

I said right now. That means this very second. In a day, that could change.

I got my iPhone the day after the release, but I think i'll wait until 3.0 is released.... but most likely I might wait a week after the release just to make sure it's possible. I also purchased NetShare and I've heard some rumors that App might not work after 3.0 but we'll see. I def want to Jailbreak mine, not to just go to a different Cell Phone company but to take advantage of some cool features. Thanks to everyone on this thread.

Jailbreaking is not the same as Unlocking!!!!

I don't get how so many people get confused about this... I have an iPhone 3G, I just bought it a month ago, it was made week 15 of 2009, so around Mid-April. I have baseband 2.30.03, version 2.2.1 (5H11) and my iPhone is very much Jailbroken...

I don't know what the hell some of you guys are on, but he's asking if 2.2.1 is Jailbreakable. Not 3.0, not unlocking.

Yes, 2.2.1 is fully Jailbreakable. Remember, once something has been Jailbroken, every new software update is still hackable, forever. The only thing that would stop a Jailbreak is a hardware update, meaning a new exploit would have to be found. this mean the new iPhone 3G S (which is a new hardware update) will not be hackable, because a new exploit must be found. Once an exploit has been found for the iPhone 3G S, it will be hackable forever. But you don't have the new iPhone (since it's not out yet), so no worries :p

*facepalm* Wow. I'm not doing good today. Yes, 2.2.1 is jailbreakable. Not unlock. Just run quickpwn and it'll be fine. Oi. Thank you for stating the obvious, since I need the help today.

OP did not mention unlocking, just jailbreaking...it is very easy to jailbreak 2.2.1 basband 2.30...follow the online tutorials.
