I was wondering if there is any type of software or any way to keep my MacBook Pro from sleeping when I shut the lid.

It's annoying because I want to take my laptop outside to the balcony and I have to take it with the lid opened otherwise it will sleep. I don't understand why Apple didn't include that feature on the System Preferences...

Is there anyway around it?

Thanks in advance.

Taking into account that it only takes 1-3 seconds to wake from sleep, it isn't really a problem.

The problem with not going to sleep when closing the lid is that it can overheat.

Well I usually have a bunch of stuff downloading, or I am chatting with friends, I don't want the computer to disconnect, that's my main issue with the computer going to sleep.

Same with me.. I sit outside, inside, move around a lot. and i hate having to walk around with my mbp open so i don't get disconnected. Any other time i shut the lid i've already turned it off so for it to go to sleep when i shut it kinda pisses me off lol.
