when its in sleep mode all moving parts are shut off, only power is kept going to the RAM

so its fine

thats good,so it would still use battery power??
im trying to use my mbp on battery for the longest possible time.

correct it still uses battery power, not much, but it does, there should be a thread around here somewhere that says how much it uses per hour being in sleep mode

thats not good =\..ok for a second i though of something,,
if i take off the battery and replace it when the mbp is fully asleep(in safe mood)...in that way i can make sure that theres no battery use and i wont lose any work, everything is exact the same.
but is it safe to take off the battery when its in safe mood kinda frequently? what do you think?

you cant take the battery out unless the machine is completly shut down

or connected to the AC power, even then its not recomended

yes you can, try it...let it sleep and wait until the little light start flashing then take off the battery (While no AC) and then put it back and power on the laptop...it will just load and will be like nothing happened to your mbp..try it.
its actually so you dont lose an data if anything makes your machine power off

So the disk completely stops spinning when the MBP is in sleep?

I remember my dad destroyed his old Dell HD after putting it to sleep, leaving it on the back car seat, and coming home from a bumpy ride. So now, I'd shut the machine off when I travel period even though its in a bag.

Is is this whole sleep and HD a non-issue with more modern notebooks?
