I have a late 2009 13" MBP and I want to play Devil May Cry 3/4 on it. I'll probably have to install BootCamp with Windows on it but I heard DMC3 runs poorly even on good graphics cards and my MBP doesn't even have one.

How to know if a game will run smoothly?

Check the system requirements of the game you want to play, look for the graphics card it requires at minimum, go to the search engine of your choice and look for your graphic card vs the graphic card a game may require, example "9400m vs quadro 5000".
That should yield some results.
