How to know if my MBP has a DL DVD Writer?

Click the apple icon on the left end of the menu bar.
Select About This Mac.
Select "More Info...."
Select Disc Burning under Hardware.

You get a list of all supported formats. If you can burn DL's, they'll be on the list.

All the current (Core 2 Duo) MBPs have dual layer Superdrives. The original 15" was single layer.
