In the previous OS, i was able to choose 'airplay' as sound output; and the OS would stick to that choice even when airplay was unavailable and then became available again. Now with Capitan, the sound output always defaults to 'internal speakers'. This sucks because i almost always use airplay, so i have to click extra every time the computer wakes. Also, now my alarm clock won't automatically play on my airplay speakers anymore....

Am i really the only one with this problem? Seems like a big change in sound output with the Capitan update....
No you are not. I have been having this same issue--its more like a horrible bug--since El Capitan. If you disconnect from airplay and reconnect it doesn't just default to internal speakers...when I try to switch back to airplay it goes mute. That's it...there is no sound. The only way to fix it is to either restart the computer or force quit the two airplay related tasks in the activity monitor and connect again. I cannot believe that this horrible bug has not been fixed since September.
