Does anyone know of a way in which I can make a email appear as if it was sent earlier (if someone was looking through my "sent" folder).. I need to email
something and then say it "failed".. and then forward it too look like I honestly sent it on the dead line.
I know its dishonest but everyone does something in their schooling to get that extra point..
Cheers!,
and a have a great day
Nick... did it not occur to you that I may use a Mac, and therefore read MR as well?

Seriously.... Easy enough to fake a the "sent" message. Send the message to another address you own. In Apple Mail, open the up the full raw text version and copy to Text Edit. Change the destination and time-stamp as needed. However, much harder to fake the "Could not deliver" message that would be attached to a returned email.
Any teacher who is smart enough to ask for a copy of the sent mail is probably also smart enough to check the headers. If the teacher wants to be really thorough, but doesn't know enough themselves, they'll just check with someone who does know enough to detect a faked header. The thing about teachers is... even if they don't know the technology as well as you do, they have a lot of experience spotting faked documentation.
My suggestion is to tell them that you made an honest mistake... you thought you had sent that document, but you must have been tired and you resent your grandma her b'day card - or something else silly. You just need to convince them the intent was there, and perhaps you'll be OK.
Of course, that's called lying... another thing that teachers have experience detecting.
