i have some email i want to save to its own folder in my email app. i know how to move things but cant figure out how to make new folders. help?

I'm guessing your wanting to do this on an iPhone's Mail app. Currently there is no known way of doing this from the app on the iPhone. The only way you can do this is by connecting to your email account with a desktop programme, Outlook or Mail, or by logging into your web based my, GMail or Yahoo. Once connected by some means other then your iPhone's Mail app you can create folders. They should automatically synchronize to your iPhone's Mail app. I believe this only works if you are using IMAP.

I don't use the Mac Mail app so I'm just guessing here. But under the Mailbox menu click on New Mailbox. Give it a new and such. When your done go back under the Mailbox menu and click Synchronize. This should make the new folder appear on the server so that your iPhone will see it and be able to use it.

PS: The instructions where written with 10.5.8 or Leopard in mind. They should work in a similar fashion on Snow Leopard.

What kind of e-mail is it? G-Mail? Mobile Me? And how is it hooked up? POP? IMAP?

That'll probably be easiest. If it is IMAP (on both the phone and the Mac) it should show up both places after you create it online.

Before you probably made a local folder on your Mac Mail that ONLY exists on the computer. If you make one online and it syncs back to Mac Mail, look and see where it shows up. It should be somewhere else on the sidebar than the local-folder is. I'm not sure where it will be, but once you see it then you can use Apple Mail to make more folders in that same place and they should sync everywhere.
