Hi All,

So this time what I'm trying to do is make adhesive backed labels to stick onto weld samples. The label would have my contact information such as name, phone number and email address. Why am I doing this you ask? Because so far, resumes and online applications have not landed me a job interview. By sticking the label directly onto a real live weld sample, the employer can literally see what I'm capable of doing which is something a job application can't do.

Question is, how do I make the labels? I was going to use Avery labels, but I don't know how to go about it. I know the labels come on 8-1/2" x 11" sheets and there are several labels per sheet that load into the printer, but I don't know how to tell the printer what I want done. I know it involves downloading the software from Avery and relaying it to the printer. From what I have gathered, the Mac Pages app can help with the managing the software and entering the contact information onto the labels. If this sounds dumb it's because I am dumb. I know way more about welding steel than I do about computers and printing labels.

Any help you can give me would be greatly appreciated. :)

Avery has label templates here, including in Pages format. Just download it, open it in Pages, and fill in your information.

Avery also has a pretty good Help section that should answer any questions you have/walk you through the process.

Good luck!

I second the suggestion to use Avery labels, and it is very easy to use Pages with the Avery template.

Just pick the Avery labels that are the size you want and then find the corresponding template as kirbyrun mentioned by entering the product number on the template website.

After downloading the .pages template, open it in pages and enter the information you want in just one of the labels, and then you can copy what you entered and paste it in each of the other labels to fill the whole sheet.

Your printer should somehow indicate which way to load the labels so that it prints on the correct side (which side goes up), and the Avery labels usually include a dummy sheet you can try printing on to check before you print on the actual labels.
