How to Make an open Dirctory?

Guys I'm stumped on this one, I'm running 10.5 server and i can not get this open dirctory to work, I would like to use the log in on my server computer on my other network computers I did this in 10.3 and that worked fine, I know it can be done, I'm running osx server on my mac book (black one) as I'm planing to get a power mac g4 to be my server, soon, like in a few weeks, I hope So yea, ok later

Also how would i get 10.5 server on a g4 with 400MH? There is a way i know that,

Go with Apple's documentation

That computerworld document is pre-Leopard server.

I would start here: http://www.apple.com/server/macosx/resources/documentation.html, there is a document on Open Directory there that you should know cold, or you will have problems.

Apple covers a lot of things you should know and need to do.

Like I said, I didn't check any of them. I'm a firm believer in that people need to learn how to search and utilize those results.

I agree with you, people need to learn how to search effectively because it will save them a lot of time to find answers and fix things. I just wanted to point out they should read the manual too. ; ) --Also the fact that Apple makes a lot of good stuff available.

So essentially you do not want to read the documents written by the manufacturer? Did you try using those docs and was there any error?

It's not the easiest thing to explain to someone, getting an OD server up and running correctly takes time, and Apple's Documentation is the best to start with.

Sorry I'm so late with a replay There are thunder storms that are making it hard to go on the net, But I have read what apple has made but still for me being a 15 year old its hard to know any of this stuff,

I'm not sure what you're asking for then.

Setting up any directory service is complex - even when the utilities for doing so are actually simple enough to use, the concepts and planning involved in setting up directory services to meet your needs is inherently complex. Doesn't matter if you're talking about Open Directory, Windows Active Directory or anything else... complex. You need to understand the underlying concepts in order to understand how to set things up correctly depending on your network. Sometimes things are difficult to understand and use because they need to be.

15 year old? That is no *ucking excuse. I learn OD when I was 16. There are plenty of PDFs out there to help you. Look it up.

Does anyone sniff BS? If you got OD to work on 10.3, why not 10.5?
