Hi, I am running Yosemite on my macbook pro. I have a few apps that I want to run automatically upon startup. How do I do this? Kindly assist. Thanks!

Leave them open when shutting down. On the shutdown confirmation dialogue screen, tick the checkbox that says it will restart your opened applications upon each reboot.
