How to make FaceTime Audio the default option?

This is more for my dad than me, as he's not tech-savvy. He's going away on vacation and willing be mostly using data. If he wants to call me, what's the easiest way to make sure that any calls to me are using FaceTime Audio? I don't want any voice calls that will rack up the minutes.

On an Apple Watch, how do I do this as well?

You might add your FaceTime audio to his Favorites. Then he will be able to call you from Phone, Favorites tab via FaceTime
