hi, i'm new to mac and OSX.
i have this problem of trying to pair Harmony 650 remote to my mac mini 2012.

i goto system preference-->security & privacy-->Advanced-->Pair and pressed the pair button on the remote pointing at the mac, nothing happens.

what am i doing wrong?

i've tried many times and unpair also doesn't work. logitech support advised i tried to add device in the Harmony apple TV instead and use to Unpair. also nothing happened.

appreciate if anyone has detailed instructions how to go about it.

First, AFAIK, you do not need to "pair" an IR remote to make it work with a Mac. You want to pair only when you have several Macs and several remotes in the same room and want to avoid unintended interferences between them.
If the Harmony has the proper codes in its IR database, it should work.
Otherwise, you need to make the Harmony 650 learn the IR codes from a working Apple Remote.

Second, if you absolutely need to pair your Harmony 650 with your Mac, for whatever reason, the recipe is there; it will obviously work ONLY if the Harmony 650 has learned ALL the proper IR codes from an Apple Remote AND IF it replays them the exact same way.

Bottom line : I do not have an Harmony 650, and do not have any idea if it can be paired to a Mac the same way the original Apple Remote can.
