So I have a Gmail account and use the Gmail app, but lately I have found the stock mail app easier to use. However, when I get an email come in, it defaults to the Gmail app. Is there a way I can make it default to the mail app? Or do I have to just open the email app and do everything from there? Thanks

When you say "when I get an email in, it defaults to the Gmail app", what exactly do you mean by that?

You will have to set up an account in Settings->Passwords & Accounts->Add Account->Google

That should set up Gmail in the default email app. You can then delete the Gmail app.

The mail doesn't "default" to any app, it sits on Google's servers and any app you have that connects to Gmail will let you access the email, so you could keep the Gmail app as well and use both if you wanted to.

Thanks. I dont know what I did earlier but all my emails but a few disappeared from my Gmail account. I think it was a setting I changed in mail. Now I might have to unlink it permanently from my Gmail if I can.
