How to manage my music

I have a iPad and I use that iPod to hear music.

In my iTunes, I set "C:\Documents and Settings\zang.MIKEZANG\My Documents\My Music\iTunes\iTunes Music" as my music media folder, there are 4 ma4 files in Mozart folder, but I can view 5 files(2 are the same files) on my iPad after sync.

I tried a couple of time and with same result.

How can I manage my music more detail?
 
I have a music question too.

My 7000+ and growing song collection takes up about 35GBs on my 64GB iPad. I'm ok with that.

It's my 32GB iPhone that won't take it all. I tried going through and only syncing certain artists but it took a long time and it still didn't fit.

I noticed there is an option to change the format of the song files to, what is it...a lower bit-rate or something? I imagine that will condense the files and make them fit. But what will I lose in sound quality?

Anyone know?

I play songs on my iPhone every day at work for seven hours at a very low volume, in my cubicle, on the external speaker. I rarely use headphones.

Will I notice the difference?
 
There is a entry in my iTunes Music Library.xml file, but after I delete it on iTunes, that entry still exists in xml file, so I got error message "Can not find that song" when I do sync.

I want to know why iTunes didn't delete that entry in xml file when I delete it in iTunes?

Then can I delete it in xml file by manual?

You can easily sync just certain playlists and certain artists to get it to fit.
The option will be to convert higher bit rate songs to 128 kpbs AAC. You would lose a little bit of quality, but it would probably be fine. This would only compress songs that are currently at a higher bit rate (such as 256 kpbs AAC).

I decided to go for it and checked "Convert higher bit rate songs to..."

If I am deciphering it correctly it has found 2,233 songs to convert. The others it is leaving the way they are? Well, whatever but it has been AN HOUR and it is on 100 out of 2,233. At this rate it will take 22 hours to finish! Is something wrong? Should I abort?

I do not recommend converting your library to a lower bit rate. I would cancel and just sync the songs you like the most or a reasonable amount of your library. No need to carry 2,000 songs unless your a dj.

Put some good playlists together. Pandora radio helps too.

Be patient. It takes several hours to do the conversion. I highly recommend it, though; you're not downsampling the originals, just the versions on this device. And since you're playing through small speakers, I would be very surprised if you could hear a difference. Some audiophiles claim they can, but then there are audiophiles who claim a $30,000 pair of speakers is worth the difference.

I agree you wouldn't be able to hear the difference if you are playing the music through the iPad's own speakers, but you might hear a difference if you are using a good set of headphones or earphones. I wish there were a way to convert only a few tracks to test them out, but it's all or nothing, and it took half a day to convert my ~32Gig music libray. *sigh*
