I've got a 20" PPC G5 iMac, and I'm going to be moving from the SF Bay Area to Baltimore during this summer. Does anyone know of a good way to transport the iMac across the country? If it were up to me, I'd either hand carry it on the plane or dump it for a new Al iMac in Baltimore, but I think it's way too large in a box to hand carry it and I don't have sufficient funds for a new iMac.

As a side question, does anyone know of some good RAM that I can upgrade this thing to? It's currently running off of 512 megs, and I'd like to bump that up to 2 gigs so Leopard can run smoother.

Fedex - UPS - DHL - USPS - Pony Express

Pack it up correctly and it will survive the trip. Apple does it every day.

Or better yet, pay one of those companies to pack it (I know UPS will do it, I assume other companies will too). It's more expensive that way, but if anything happens they take the responsibility.

Hmmm, I never thought of that. I just might end up doing that.

Thanks guy!

Original box will work great but sounds like you don't have one. Put up an ad on craigslist ask for an original box for specific model and maybe someone might have one to sell.
