In iOS 12 you could hold an app on home screen, invoke multitasking, then drag the app onto an existing open app. This seems no longer possible. How can I bring apps from the home screen (not dock) into multitasking? Thanks

Go to the home screen. Long-press the secondary app, drag and hold. Then, open the primary app while still holding the secondary app icon - the app switcher can be used to open the primary app. Once the primary app is open, drag the app you’re holding (secondary app icon) into either side-by-side and slide-over.
