how to open excel xlsx file catalina imac?

looks like a excel spreadsheet but cannot enlarge it- did manage to unzip it ..it is on my desktop and I cannot find a way to read it either by enlarging it or maybe there is a way to change the extention but to what.? and how.....view I suspect- thank you.
you sure can waste a lot of time and effort chasing this stuff most is outdated.

If it's an Excel spreadsheet, open it in Excel.

Have you tried using Numbers, Excel or Open Office? These apps should help you open the file

You can upload it to the online version of Excel with an Outlook.com account (free) or to a Google Sheets document with a Gmail account (free).
