How to open images directly via messaging app on Monterey? (screenshot inside)

When I double-click on images via the messaging app on monterey, this box opens first and then I have to make another active selection to open the image.
How do I delete this box so that the image opens immediately?

This started with monterey. During big sur, the picture was opened immediately.

Really annoying.

yeah, boot into safe mode, enter Monterey, then reboot in normal mode and it gets fixed
