I've been working on this for a month with no progress so i'm asking for ideas.

I have a bunch of old imovieproj files which I gather are iMovie 06 files? I've tried downloading and purchasing off ebay (iLife 06) software, but all end up being PPC software. Trying to figure out if there is such a thing as x86 iMovie 06, or if there's another way to open these files. Any advice? Maybe do I need to be investigating setting up a VM of PPC Mac OS? I don't have any really old running PPC hardware, nor any x86 hardware older than maybe 5 years on hand, which limits my ability to experiment with natively running old software. Thanks for any advice -

I’d look to buy an old ppc machine on eBay. You can probably find one dirt cheap if you are diligent.

Can any of your machines run Snow Leopard? That’s the last OS which will run iMovie HD. You could also run Snow Leopard in a virtual machine.

Speculating here, but try right-clicking on one and seeing if "show package contents" is available. Some of the iLife formats have been essentially bundles of files that are packaged to appear as a single clickable file in the Finder, and contain subdirectories of their assets inside. Photos is definitely still this way. You might be able to at least extract the video clips themselves even if you can't get the finished edited project.

I think the VM option is probably my best. Thanks

Don't know if that can be justified based on the cost and trouble. Plus i'm lazy and i've already put a lot of effort into this :). Thanks!
