I'm going to be getting a new iMac soon, probably the new one when it comes out. I want to save as much $$$ as possible, and I want 2GB RAM. I was wondering, which method would be cheaper:

1. Order it with 2GB RAM pre-installed

2. Order it with the standard ram option and buy two 1GB sticks. Replace the factory-installed RAM and sell the old RAM on eBay.

I'm not sure if replacing the RAM would save me much money and be worth the trouble. What do you think?

Buying third party RAM can save substantial amounts of $$ over Apple.

Where are you located? In the USA, the most-recommended vendors on MR are Crucial (use the link above), OWC (MacSales.com) and Data Memory Systems (datamem.com)

Thanks. That's probably what I'll do. Also, I've noticed that Apple has raised the price of RAM since I last checked.
