How to paste photo into pages?

Took photo in iphone, emailed it to myself. Opened it in gmail on imac, copied image and tried to paste it into a pages document (macos catalina) but it did not work.

Do any of the following:

• Drag an image from your computer or a web page to a media placeholder or anywhere else on the page.
• Click in the bottom-right corner of a media placeholder, then select an image from a photo library.
• Click in the toolbar, choose Photos, then drag an image from a photo library to the page or to a media placeholder.

Also: Save the image from Gmail to your desktop (or any other folder you wish), then drag the image from the desktop (or the other folder you may have saved it in) into the Pages document.
