I wanted to know if is there any way of pinning some of the TextEdit files in its Recently Viewed section. For example, in the attached screenshot, I want to pin the Android and Windows files, so that even if I open other TextEdit files, these two remain there in the recently viewed list.

TextEdit doesn't provide an option to pin documents, but because this app opens to the save location, perhaps you could ensure those documents appear at the top by either renaming them with a character or the letter "a" first (such as an asterisk so the sort order puts them on top) or moving them in a separate folder, which has a special character first in its name.

I haven't worked with .bat files for a long time so I don't recall whether a special character is allowed in its filename.

Here's another idea I figured out without renaming the files. In the Finder window where they're saved, select the first document (without opening it), and using the share menu, save it to a new Notes document (either saved on iCloud or your Mac). This will save that document as a link. Name your Notes document and pin it. Then repeat the select and share to that note for the other documents.

Thanks for your valuable insights. While the renaming tweak would keep the text file at the top, but only till TextEdit's recently viewed list doesn't reach its threshold. Once that happens, it will automatically remove the old notes [irrespective of their name].

And accessing the pinned items in the Notes app also requires opening the Notes app first, it would have been much better if they could have directly pinned it in the recently viewed list. Anyways, I guess this is how things work in this ecosystem and I should mold my usage accordingly.

Anyways, thanks once again for the tips mate.

You're welcome. You may have misunderstood what I was suggesting about renaming, and that is not to use the recently viewed list in TextEdit, but instead use its Finder default save location view. Hope you find something that works well.
